With a fairly short drive, including a little ferry trip from Stranda, you`ll find the historic hotel Union Øye situated in Norangsdalen. It was built in 1891 for fishermen and travelers wanting to enjoy the incredibly scenery that surrounds this well thought out and extraordinarily esthetically pleasing family owned hotel. As the only hotel in Norway it’s represented by the luxurious Relais & Chateaux group. A variety og kings and queens has stayed the night over the years. A Dry Martini made Perfect

Recipe, serves one:

Gin 4 cl.

Vermut – any type for example Noilly-Prat Original Dry

Olives alt. orange zest shaving

Do like this:

Fill a martini glass with ice cubes and a dash of vermut

Ice in the drink mixer

4 cl. Gin pour in the mixer and stir  (not shaken)

Pour out the ice and all vermut from the martini glass, if you want to have a strong aperitif. For a lunch version use 50% Gin and 50% Vermut.

Use a sieve and pour in the gin to the now empty martini glass only perfumed with vermut

Drink is almost done

Use a tasteless toothpick and stick an olive through

Place the olive stick in the martini glass

Alt. use a shaving of orange zest to flavor the drink

Áarstova restaurant located in the old of Tórshavn is best known for their slow cooked lamb, cooked for 6h. Decorated with finesse and authenticity, they offer local beer, fresh fish, rhubarb pie with homemade ice cream and all in all full and happy bellies.

The fishburger at Anita’s Seafood in Lofoten is a must! The menu offers a delicious variety with everything from prawns from Lyngenfjorden, juniper smoked salmon or trout, a small taste of smoked whale, delicate sashimi, fresh bread from the bakery at Å. The delicacy shop and seafood bar offer everything you would need for a great meal. Get to the unique and tasty restaurant Kami on the island Skotholmen by a fast boat ride from Storfjord Hotel, or even by helicopter from Ålesund. Chef Magnus meets you at the dock and works his magic with freshly caught fish straight from the nearby ocean, served in a boathouse from the mid-1800s. This is fine cooking mixed with modern design in historical surroundings at it’s best.
